OUR COMMITMENTS

OUR MISSION AND VALUES

Opened in 2016, Chaplin’s World is a cultural destination dedicated to the life, work and enduring legacy of Charlie Chaplin.

Set across 3,000 m², the experience unfolds through three distinct worlds: the Manoir, the Studio and the Park. Together, they bring visitors closer to Chaplin through immersive environments, personal objects, cinematic sets and the landscape he chose as his home.

More than a place of remembrance, Chaplin’s World keeps his work in motion and invites new generations to experience the creativity, humanity and freedom that continue to make his vision resonate today.

PRESERVING CHAPLIN’S LEGACY

Chaplin’s World was created to protect, share and bring new life to the artistic heritage of Charlie Chaplin.

Through his films, personal belongings, archives and the places connected to his life, we preserve the traces of his work while creating new ways for visitors to encounter it. Our ambition is not simply to look back, but to ensure that Chaplin’s creativity and vision continue to be discovered, understood and shared.

RESPECT AND FREEDOM

Chaplin’s work spoke across languages, borders and generations. We want Chaplin’s World to reflect that same openness. A place where everyone can feel welcome, explore freely and experience the estate in their own way.

Diversity, inclusion and mutual respect are part of the way we welcome visitors, work together and keep Chaplin’s humanist spirit present today.

SAFETY AND WELLBEING

Feeling at ease is part of the experience.
The safety and wellbeing of our visitors and teams remain a priority throughout the estate. We are committed to providing a welcoming and secure environment where everyone can enjoy Chaplin’s World with confidence and peace of mind.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

The landscape surrounding the Manoir
is part of Chaplin’s World.

Fourteen hectares of parkland, century old trees,
Lake Geneva and the Alps form the setting Chaplin chose for his family and the environment we are responsible for today.

Our environmental commitment focuses on long term solutions designed to reduce our consumption and support our goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2030.

ACTIONS ALREADY

IN PLACE

  • Automatic adjustment of air conditioning.
  • Heating regulation across exhibition spaces and offices.
  • Electricity supplied from guaranteed 100 percent hydroelectric production across the entire site.
  • Solar panels installed on the Studio.

OUR 2030

  • Gradual replacement of company vehicles with more environmentally responsible alternatives.
  • Environmental objectives integrated into every new project.
  • Replacement of diesel with biofuel for the technical team’s multifunction tractor.
  • Replacement of the current lawn mower with an electric model.

ROOTED IN SWITZERLAND

Chaplin chose the Vaud Riviera as his home. Today, Chaplin’s World is deeply connected
to the region that welcomed him.

The estate is part of a cultural landscape shaped
by Lake Geneva, the Alps and a remarkable network
of museums, cultural institutions, tourism partners and local expertise. This regional connection is also part of our responsibility. To contribute to the cultural life of the Riviera, to work within its ecosystem and to help
visitors discover a wider part of the Swiss heritage surrounding Chaplin’s World.

THE STORY BEHIND

CHAPLIN’S WORLD

The idea of creating a major cultural destination dedicated to Charlie Chaplin and his work began in 2000 with the meeting of Swiss architect Philippe Meylan and Quebec museographer Yves Durand, a passionate admirer of cinema and Chaplin.

The project gradually brought together entrepreneurs, artists and regional partners, alongside teams of architects, engineers and designers. From the beginning, the ambition was to create more than a museum. The Manoir, the Studio and the Park were conceived as complementary ways of approaching Chaplin, allowing his private life, his creative process and his relationship with the landscape to exist within the same experience.

Chaplin’s World opened in 2016, on the very estate where Charlie Chaplin spent the final twenty five years of his life.

ENTER CHAPLIN’S WORLD

Charlie Chaplin created a language that crossed borders, generations and backgrounds. More than a century later, that language still speaks to children, adults, film lovers and first time visitors alike.

Chaplin’s World keeps that universality alive by bringing together the different sides of his story in one place, from Charlie the man to Charlot the performer, from private life to creative freedom, from memory to movement.

The experience is cultural, emotional and accessible across generations, leaving everyone free to connect with Chaplin in their own way.

A place to feel, create, observe, play and share.
