Cookies policy

Publication version — updated 20 August 2026

You remain in control of your choices

Cookies essential to operation and security are active by default. Functional, audience measurement, advertising and third-party service cookies are placed only after your choice where consent is required. You may change your choice at any time through "Manage my cookie preferences".

1. Purpose and scope

This Policy explains how Chaplin's World SA uses cookies and similar technologies on www.chaplinsworld.com and associated ticketing journeys. It supplements our Personal Data Protection Policy.

"Cookies" are small files stored on or read from your device. The rules below also cover pixels, tags, local identifiers, scripts, software development kits and comparable techniques used to recognise a browser or observe its use.

2. Controller and contact

Chaplin's World SA selects the services integrated into the website and is responsible for their compliant implementation. Some providers may also process data for their own purposes; their identity, role and information are then stated in the preference tool.

3. Legal framework

The use of cookies is primarily governed by the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), the Data Protection Ordinance and article 45c of the Telecommunications Act. These rules require, in particular, clear information about purposes and how to refuse the relevant processing.

The FADP does not automatically require consent for every non-essential cookie. Depending on the risk and context, however, the processing must be justifiable and an effective right to object must be offered. Express consent is required in particular for high-risk profiling or the processing of sensitive data where consent is relied upon as the justification.

Where the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and European tracking rules apply to a user or processing activity, their additional requirements are observed. To provide a simple and consistent choice, Chaplin's World adopts a protective approach: non-essential categories remain disabled until you make a choice.

4. Cookie categories

Essential

  • Purposes: operate and secure the website: session, basket, ticketing, authentication, load balancing, misuse prevention, cookie-choice storage and language required for the service.
  • Activation rule: active by default. They are not used for personalised advertising.
  • Examples of providers: Chaplin's World and technical ticketing, hosting, security or payment providers.

Functional

  • Purposes: remember optional preferences, improve usability and enable certain requested features.
  • Activation rule: after your choice where the feature is not indispensable.
  • Examples of providers: functional providers identified in the preference tool.

Audience measurement and performance

  • Purposes: understand website use, compile statistics, detect errors, conduct tests and improve journeys.
  • Activation rule: after your choice, except for strictly anonymous measurement that does not involve personal data.
  • Examples of providers: including Google Analytics and Hotjar, if active on the page visited.

Advertising, conversion and affiliation

  • Purposes: measure campaigns, limit repetition, attribute a sale and personalise ads on third-party websites.
  • Activation rule: after your consent.
  • Examples of providers: including Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising/Bing Ads, Meta/Facebook and affiliate partners, if active.

Social networks, media and sign-in

  • Purposes: display external content, share a page or use Apple, Google or Facebook sign-in. The provider may link the interaction to your account.
  • Activation rule: after your choice or explicit action; the service remains blocked before activation where consent is required.
  • Examples of providers: including Apple, Google, Meta/Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, depending on the features used.

5. Information processed

Depending on the tools enabled, cookies and related services may process:

  • IP address, date and time, pages viewed, clicks, journey, session duration and referring page;
  • cookie, browser, device, advertising, campaign or account identifiers;
  • device type, browser, operating system, language and technical connection data;
  • approximate location inferred from the IP address;
  • consent choices and, if you are signed in or have completed a transaction, events required for authorised attribution and personalisation.

These elements may constitute personal data where they identify or distinguish you, alone or in combination with other information.

6. Your choices and withdrawal

On your first visit, the banner allows you to accept, refuse or customise non-essential categories. "Accept" and "Refuse" options must be presented in an equally accessible and understandable manner. Refusal is never treated as acceptance.

You may change or withdraw your choice at any time by clicking "Manage my cookie preferences" in the footer. Withdrawal is as easy as acceptance and takes effect for the future. It does not cancel processing already carried out lawfully.

Refusing non-essential cookies does not prevent access to core features. A feature that relies directly on an optional third-party service — such as an external video or social sign-in — may remain unavailable until you activate it.

You may be asked to choose again if your choice is no longer technically available, if purposes or partners change materially, or after an appropriate period to confirm that it still reflects your preferences.

7. Detailed list and durations

The list displayed in "Manage my cookie preferences" forms an integral part of this Policy. For each cookie or technology, it must state at least its name, provider, purpose, category, duration and, where relevant, the country from which the data are processed.

The duration depends on the function: some cookies expire when the browser closes; others are retained for a limited period. No cookie or related identifier is kept longer than necessary for its purpose. Durations are reviewed periodically and unused cookies are removed.

Real-time inventory

The services named in section 4 correspond to the categories and providers currently contemplated or present on the website. The technical list in the preference tool must be synchronised with the trackers actually loaded and prevails for the details of each cookie.

8. Third-party providers and international transfers

Activating a third-party service may allow its provider to collect information directly from your browser. Depending on the service, these data may be processed in Switzerland, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Israel or other countries identified in the preference tool.

Where a country is not recognised by the Swiss Federal Council as providing adequate protection, we use a safeguard permitted under Swiss law — in particular standard contractual clauses adapted to Swiss law — and additional measures where necessary. The Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework may be used for certain certified U.S. recipients.

Providers that process data for their own purposes also apply their own policies. We invite you to review them before activating the relevant service.

9. Browser settings

You may also configure your browser to delete or block cookies. These settings complement the website preference tool and may affect certain essential features, including the basket, session or ticketing. Instructions are generally available under "Privacy", "Cookies" or "Site settings" in your browser.

10. Updates and contact

We may amend this Policy to reflect changes to the website, providers or applicable law. The current version and update date are published on the website. If purposes or partners change materially, we may ask you to make a new choice.

For any question about cookies or use of your data, write to contact@chaplinsworld.com or to Chaplin's World SA, Data Protection, Route de Fenil 2, 1804 Corsier-sur-Vevey, Switzerland. Information about your rights and complaint options is available in our Personal Data Protection Policy.
